Guillermo V. Castaneda was born and raised in southern Colorado and served four years in the U.S. Navy. He attended the University of Washington in Seattle and earned a degree in electrical engineering and later earned a high school teaching certificate in physics and a master's of business administration. He worked as an engineer, a high school physics and chemistry teacher, and established and administered medical and dental clinics for farmworker families.
